Description

The Assembly and Quality Technician will be responsible for assembling UBCO Electric Bikes, ensuring that all components are properly fitted and that the finished product meets quality standards.

In addition, the technician will complete Pre-Delivery Inspections on all bikes and have a special focus on quality assurance ensuring that every motorcycle meets our rigorous standards for quality and performance before reaching our customers.

Key Responsibilities, Objectives & Results

Responsibilities:

Assembly:

· Build bikes according to specifications, ensuring each component is assembled with precision.

· Follow detailed assembly instructions and quality control procedures to ensure products meet specifications.

· Test and troubleshoot bikes to ensure they meet performance and quality requirements.

Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI):

· Thoroughly inspect each bike to ensure it meets quality standards before shipment.

Quality Assurance:

· Highlight and report defective parts using the Non-conformance Report (NCR).

· Maintain and update digital PDF PDI forms using Acrobat and iOS devices.

· Use tools like Excel and Word to create labels and laser checkoff sheets for operational efficiency.

· Communicate feedback to bike assemblers to address and resolve assembly issues.

Testing and Diagnostics:

· Measure battery voltages, test batteries, and reset battery BMS boards.

· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair bikes and demo bikes as needed.

· Service motors, including replacing bearings and planetary gears, and cleaning and lubricating interior components.

Inventory Management:

· Move and organize inventory to support shipping and receiving.

· Charge batteries as necessary and manage tools and inventory for various workstations.

· Submit orders for inventory restock as required.

· Support factory audits of materials and inventory controls

Software Proficiency:

· Utilize software tools such as Unleashed, HubSpot, Acrobat, and LibreOffice to complete and print Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MCOs) and other documentation.

Training and Leadership:

· Train new employees in PDI processes and bike assembly.

· Coordinate daily with the Service & Repair Inspector (SRI) lead to prioritize bikes for PDI and preparation for shipping.

Additional Responsibilities:

· When necessary, engage in local customer service to address and resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly and professionally.

· Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting unsafe activities to Management.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area, including maintaining tools and equipment.

· Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

· Contribute to building a positive team spirit.

· Communicate effectively

· Always maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity

Experience/Requirements:

  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly or production in a related field, preferably in automotive or motorcycle manufacturing.
  • Strong technical and mechanical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Unleashed, HubSpot, Acrobat, and LibreOffice is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to train and lead new team members in assembly and quality inspection processes.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

· Work primarily in a warehouse setting.

· Work environment may involve exposure to various weather conditions.

· Spend most of your time on your feet, walking, standing, and moving around the warehouse.

· Work schedule may include day, evening, or weekend shifts, depending on the needs of the business.

· Required to lift, carry, and move heavy boxes and equipment, sometimes weighing up to 65 pounds or more.

· Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel

· Required to operate machinery

· Requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, as you may be required to handle tools or small items

· Safety is a top priority in the warehouse environment, and it is essential to follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment. You will also need to be aware of your surroundings and be able to react quickly to any potential hazards or emergencies
